Mineral Makeup Ingredients
Mineral Makeup, for the most part, is vegetarian and vegan-friendly. There is NEVER any Animal testing at Mineral Magic Cosmetics. I say that because it depends on the company and what other additives they might be using. What's in mineral makeup, you ask? The answer: all natural, pure, crushed minerals taken from the Earth. Mica is a naturally mined light-weight mineral that has sheer reflectory properties to HIDE the signs of aging, acne, roseacea plus allows the makeup to go on smoothly (slip) and last longer. It also provides sheen and shimmer depending on the type of mica used. Zinc Oxide is known for its HEALING properties in problem skin such as roseacea and acne, helps improve fine lines and wrinkles, is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. It is highly sweat and water resistant and provides excellent protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. Iron Oxides are naturally occurring minerals used for creating COLOR. Ultramarine Blue is used because there is no blue oxide and is therefore needed for some cool shades. ****I've only listed a few of the other, MANY, optional additives. Do a search on mineral makeup for more information and ingredients.**** Ultramarine Pink, Violet, Carmine, Green Chromium Oxide (Chrome Dioxide) - Some mineral makeup contains Ultramarines, Carmine & Green Chrome Oxide because there is no blue oxide and Carmine red, for example, gives a much brighter hue than red oxide alone. Sericite Mica AKA Magnesium Myristrate is a natural pigment derived from the mineral muscovite mica, coated with titanium dioxide to obtain an off-white color. It provides a fine shimmer and/or low luster effect, depending on whether you are using PEARL sericite or MATTE sericite. MM can also give a creamy appearance as it adds the characteristics of moist softness and improves the adhesion of mineral makeup. It is highly sweat and water resistant and has the ability to bind the minerals together, providing better coverage and longer wear time. Titanium Dioxide shields the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. It also has waterproof and SPF properties while providing a Matte look, and can help reduce irritation and redness. This is widely used as pigment in paint, cosmetics, soap, toothpaste - even candy - and many more products that you would never think of. Kaolin Clay is a very mild, fluffy, purifying clay which is very soothing to the skin and safe for all skin types including dry, sensitive skin. It provides great coverage, absorbs fats from the skin, refines pores and helps clear up breakouts. Magnesium Stearate - Magnesium is a naturally occurring metal - (Stearic acid is derived from vegetable oil). This is used ususally in place of Titanium. It provides opacity, and improves the adhesiveness of powders to the skin. Boron Nitride provides a silky, softer focus to the skin with great adhesion and long-wear characteristics. STAY AWAY FROM BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE - kin to arsenic. It is a synthetic, very fine crystal composed of bismuth (naturally occurring metallic element) and salt. It gives a shine to your face while wreaking havoc to it. Bismuth provides a smooth texture and appearance, has excellent whiteness properties, luster and brightness. Bye, Beautiful! Mineral Magic
