Mineral Makeup - All Hype?
So WHAT is the big deal about mineral makeup. Is it all hype? NO. Mineral makeup is a mineral supplement for your skin. It is an anti-inflammatory, helps heal acne, won't clog your pores and has NO EXPIRATION DATE! it is safe enough to sleep in. Your skin will love you for it! The problem is finding the brand that is right for you. In my makeup, Mineral Magic Cosmetics, I do NOT use bismuth oxychloride, which is kin to arsenic and a skin irritant. This is most likely WHY your skin is breaking out. Read your labels. If you see these ingredients, throw your makeup away immediately: Rice flour/powder, talc, wax, perfume, oil, bismuth oxychloride, arrowroot and any other filler. Fillers provide absolutely no benefit to your skin. The ingredients that should be on the label are Mica, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides and Ultramarine Blue. Mica provides a nice sheen to your skin. Mica is available plain, pearl and shimmer. This will determine if your makeup is Matte, Pearl, or has Shimmer/Sparkle to it. Zinc Oxide is an anti-bacterial, provides sun protection from damaging UVA/UVB sun rays and soothes your skin. It helps heal acne and is anti-inflammatory. Iron Oxides give the mineral makeup its color. Ultramarine Blue is used in cool shades, pink, blue, etc., because there is no blue oxide. Titanium Dioxide, Kaolin Clay, Magnesium Stearate, and other minerals are optional. Please see my next post for more information. |
